My family just received news that three male freshman were involved in an accident just after midnight last night, one has passed and the other two are in ICU after being airlifted to Albany Medical. A quick google and it turns out they were walking back to campus and were hit by a 64 year old drunk driver. This has to be a family’s worst nightmare, my heart goes out to everyone involved. Makes me want to jump in my car and drive the 4.5 hours to give me daughter a hug.
That is such sad news. It is so hard to have kids away at college where you can only hope they are safe and not watch them to be reassured. And even if they are living at home, they have to be able to come and go and live a normal life. These kids were innocently walking home. How horrible. How sad. How criminal.
Oh man that is tough… what a tragedy indeed. Thinking of the families and the entire Skidmore community, so sorry to hear such sad news.
So sorry to hear this tragic news. It is a parents worst nightmare.
Tragic. Unimaginable for these kids and their parents.
I’m very sorry to hear this. Three members of D2’s class were killed in a car accident in winter of her junior year. It was traumatic for many many students and obviously horrible for the families and friends of the boys who died and the two in the car who survived.
Oh my gosh, that’s truly horrible.
Horror for the families, of course. And a huge shock for a small community such as Skidmore.
I’m so sorry to hear this. Very sad.
My daughter just called and said a few kids from her Chem Lab were friends, one was a rommmate and there was supposed to be a meeting of the chemlab group today which was cancelled. They’ve also received several emails about homework on hold for a few days, exams cancelled, and counseling sessions scheduled. Skidmore has been very proactive in providing information, I’ve received three emails/updates today. For many students like my daughter, this is their first experience with tragedy within their peer groups, that feeling of invincibility that so many have at this age begins to disintegrate.
Such a terrible sadness.
I’m glad Skidmore is stepping forward so quickly and helpfully.
I’m so sorry for your daughter and her friends, @NEPatsGirl
That’s terrible news. Your mind initially wonders to kids making poor choices, and here it is some drunk adult idiot. Heart goes out to the victims, their families and the student body for having to deal with this tragedy.
