In high school, I took three city college courses which I think might have a chance of transferring to GE's at UCLA: Oceanography, Black Studies (two semesters - one was from the 1500's-1950, and the other was the Civil Rights Movement from 1950-present), and Ethnic Studies. I checked assist.org, and the oceanography one will transfer to life sciences, but I'm not positive about the other two.

What process do I go to actually accomplish transferring the credit?

Go to whichever counseling dept. you belong to and they'll give you a blue petition so you can petition the class for GE credit. Don't rely on assist.org too much though, you want to talk to the counselor first, since they sometimes contradict assist.org.

Or you can stop by Murphy to pick up the form, and those ASK peer counselor students are supposed to (but often don't) have the blue petition forms. They advise you to include a syllabus from the course and/or a copy of the course description from the courses catalog if you have them to help increase your chances.
