Tranferring to Dartmouth as a Legacy...

Hey all, I'm currently a student at Tufts University. I'm thinking about transferring to Dartmouth, and if I play my cards right I should have around a 3.5-3.6 GPA from the school of engineering (Calculus-based Physics, 2nd year Comp sci class, Calc and 2 introductory engineering classes). I'm only in a couple of clubs, but I've had a VERY rough semester due to outside forces, including:
-My father being in the hospital for 3 weeks during the very beginning of the semester due to a cancer operation
-Being hospitalized twice, once for an overnight and once for a week
-Having a hellish roomate (e.g. - urinating on the floor when drunk, puking on the couch when drunk, having sex with his girlfriend when I'm asleep IN A BUNKBED... you get the idea)
-My family becoming severley in debt after a business fiasco my brother made

..And a few other things. I plan on picking up the pace in terms of extracurriculars next semester. I'm thinking about doing rugby, debate team, and the two clubs I'm currently involved in. My high school Record I believe is pretty good:

GPA: 4.2W, 3.92UW
1370/720/690/640
AP Scholar with Honor
Bangor, ME - 10/330, blue ribbon high school
3 sport varsity athlete, 7 varsity letters (All conference in two sports)
President of NHS
Peer Tutor
Acted in 3 plays
Backstage crew for talent show sophomore year, MC for talent show
senior year
Summer job-Pretzel Shop, 35hrs/week (first three summers)
-Moving Company, 45hrs/week (last summer)
There are also a few awards I recieved that I can't think of off the top of my head, but yeah.

I'm planning on going to the school of liberal arts, hence the reason I would like to go to dartmouth. I did plan on applying ED last year, but I was recruited to Tufts to play football, so I had to withdraw my Dartmouth ED (I don't know if I got in or not). I'm not having the best time here, and I would like to try and transfer. Considering my stats and being a legacy, how good a shot do you guys think I have?

If you can write a story that Dartmouth can buy, you can get in. Maybe retake your SAT if possible.

Out of curiosity, what don't you like about Tufts? I was considering transferring there next year...

Well, there's nothing really wrong with Tufts to be honest. But I feel as if I went here mostly to play football in college (which, in fact, I really did want to do). Now that I'm not playing football, I feel like I made a bit of a mistake withdrawing my Dartmouth Application. And after all the crap that happened to me this semester, I have a bit of a bad taste in my mouth after being here. (Just fyi, most of the stuff that happened is compleatley non related to Tufts). Don't get me wrong, Tufts is a great school, and you should be worried about applying since I'm applying mostly due to personal, non-school related reasons. Too be honest I won't be that upset at all if I'm not able to transfer. Hell, if next semester goes a lot better than my first, I may not even apply! But Dartmouth really was my first choice, and I would like to at least try to pursue getting in, especially after the way things went this semester.

Well that's good to know at least.
