Transcript? How does this work?

I moved from a traditional Catholic Philippine school to an international IB school recently. I completed years 1,2 and 3 at the Philippine school, then moved just this year and got placed at the 11th grade, since the Philippine system does not have 8th grade.

Since first year high school in the Philippine system is considered 8th grade, then colleges would only have to see my 2nd and 3rd year grades, along with my transcript for 11th and 12th grades right? I think that 2nd and 3rd year are like grades 9 and 10 in the American system. I'm asking because I did pretty bad in my first year of high school and am wondering if colleges will have to see it.

Anyone?

Colleges will see whatever your school sends them on the transcript. You might be able to get them to exclude your first year grades, but you might not be able to; not being at your school I don’t know.

Now, I suspect that colleges would ignore your first year grades anyway, but I don’t know that for sure. Your IB school probably has had some people go to the US in the past, so ask them about that too.

Thanks! I’ll check with my school.
