How should transcripts from another college be handled? Is there a way for the previous University I attended to somehow virtually attach my transcript to the CommonApp or do I need to have my previous transcript mailed to the college I am applying to?

Same question for supplements. If we have teachers/professors physically filling out the school forms, how should they be attached to the CommonApp? Or do they need to be mailed in?

I have the same question. Does my son contact the colleges he’s attended part time and have them send the official transcripts directly to the colleges or should they send them to our house so he can mail them himself along with other documents that he plans to mail? When should this be done? Won’t schools lose things if they come in a little at a time?

The School Forms section of the application contains pdf forms that must be downloaded and submitted with official transcripts. The instructions on the College Report state:

“This form must accompany an official copy of your transcript and must be completed by a college official(s) who has access to your academic record and your disciplinary record. Please follow these steps to ensure the form is completed accurately and in its entirety. Step 1: Complete all relevant questions below, including the signature statement. Step 2: Give this form to a dean or college official who has access to your academic record and ask that official to com- plete the academic portion of this form. Step 3: If the official completing the academic portion does not also have access to your disciplinary record, please ask the individual to securely forward the form to a second official who can answer those questions before duplicating this form and mailing it to your colleges along with copies of your official transcript(s).”

Are transcripts are submitted by paper? My D took a few courses at a community college. Does she ask them send her transcript to admissions office at colleges she is applying to?

Since I’m a homeschool parent, it seems our situation is a little different. Should my son request official transcripts from the colleges he’s taken classes from be sent to our home and then he’ll send them via snail mail in the envelope with the homeschool supplement? I’m a bit confused and since I’m supposed to be his counselor, I’d better know this stuff.

This doesn’t help. In most colleges, transcripts are issued from a records office. If a HS students took a few courses at a university that are not included in the HS transcript, what shoud you do? Common Application says to send college course transcripts ASAP but where do we send them?

All transcripts for all college work completed should be sent directly from the issuing college to the colleges and universities to which students are applying. That way there is no question as to whether these documents are official not.

How would colleges receiving transcripts match them to students? When requesting transcripts, do you tell them to send it to admissions at xxx univ for common application #123? What if universities send transcripts on-line?

I’ll see if I can find the answer as I was wondering that, too. Hopefully, admissions offices are organized to receive these documents and put them with the right student.
