Transcript sent after deadline

UT Austin is my backup school because it is in state and I am automatically admitted. I submitted all of my information on time, and I believed my counselor would submit my transcript because she submitted it to the other colleges I applied to. After I submitted about the application, I didn't worry about it because I have been guaranteed admission. Just last week I found out that my transcript wasn't submitted. I had the school send my transcript as soon as possible. When I checked my application status online, it said my application hadn't been completed before the deadline. I submitted everything that I was supposed to , my counselor just didn't submit my transcript. Now they're considering my entire application late. What do I do? I have been accepted to NYU so far, but I might not be able to afford to go there so I need UT Austin as a safe school.

So you didn’t realize that your counselor hadn’t submitted your transcript until a week ago, almost four months after the application deadline? UT is not a safety school for you, because you have no chance of matriculating there in the Fall.

They never sent me anything saying that my application wasn’t complete either.

Erin,

As an approaching adult, if not already one, you have a personal responsibility to make sure your items are where they are suppose to be. It is in NO WAY UTs RESPONSIBILITY TO NOTIFY YOU. THEY ARE NOT BABYSITTERS. You have access 24/7 to your “bealonghorn” account and it would have clearly shown that the transcript was not received. Your application was/is late because the transcript is the most critical part of the application. It lists your grades and your class rank. You are no longer eligible for admission because of this.

Did you request that this transcript be sent and pay any and all required fees to have that done? If so, you could ask your counselor to plead your case, but I am not so sure that will work 4 months after the deadline. 4 days, yes, 4 weeks, maybe, but not 4 months.

If the application was late yet you are automatically admitted, you will most likely receive an invitation to join UT in the following Spring semester rather than in the Fall.
