Transcripts/CSU-GE Breadth Certification

I’m a transfer student from a California Community College. I know final transcripts are due July 15th. Do I need to wait until it’s requested on BroncoDirect or send them out immediately?

Also, when ordering a transcript to be sent, I had an option for general education certification. If I choose this, they won’t send my transcript until the certification is complete. Is certification required?

If you look around the board, you’d see this thread with the answer: <a href=“IGETC certification - Cal Poly Pomona - College Confidential Forums”>IGETC certification - Cal Poly Pomona - College Confidential Forums;

@xxcapital‌ I looked at the board & saw your thread, but with only one answer from someone I decided I’d ask again to see if anyone else would reply with an answer. I didn’t want to rely on the word of just one person. Anyway, I went ahead and called the Office of Admissions and Outreach. No, general education certification is not required, but if it’s done already then go ahead and make sure you have it included.

I would send the transcript in ASAP. It takes forever for the admissions office to process them, and/or they manage to lose it in the process. It was taking forever for my son’s transcript to get processed and the courses to show up in the transfer credit report, which was keeping him from registering for courses since pre-req courses weren’t there. Only after he re-sent the transcript did all the CC courses show up.

:I. I heard they processed and inputs the grades ASAP. Considering going to school tomorrow and fight vultures for parking to request another $15 transcript just in case…

You should only send in transcripts once they request them or else they will just discard them. In my experience, they were pretty quick to process my transcripts (most of them were done electronically). I had one set from a community college that did not go through very quickly. With that set, I went back to the school and ordered a physical copy in a sealed envelope to drop off at CPP myself. The school was nice enough to provide them to me for free (rush) since the original electronic set had not been delivered in a timely manner. After that, those transcripts were made available the next day.

But like I said in the other thread, if everything is not showing up beforehand, you should make sure to take your unofficial transcripts to orientation and the advisers can adjust prereqs for you.
