Transcripts

Hello CC,

As an international student, my school does not issue 'transcripts' as such. While we do get end-of-year grades, these are never compiled into a collection of grades for the student's entire high school career.

For college application purposes, what should I ask my school to put into a transcript? I am assuming letter grades for all years, etc. Do transcripts get mailed into the colleges I am applying for, or are they entered online?

Also, I skipped a year of high school. Instead of leaving a gaping hole on this 'transcript', I could use my eighth grade results for my ninth, etc. (over here, eighth grade is part of high school) or could do something like 'First year of high school, Second year of high school', and so on. I just don't want it to look like I've only taken a small number of courses throughout my high school career :)

Thanks!

Bump (nearly on second page again! Forum sure is popular!).

The end-of-year grade is acceptable.

The transcript is not entered online, you have to ask your counselor (or dean if you don’t have one) to print out each year’s transcript containing every subject you take. The counselor then have to mail them to the school you’re applying to. But now it seems there’s another way for the counselor to do by scanning the transcripts and upload them if you are using Common App.

I don’t know about the skip-year thing, maybe you can contact admission officer or ask the counselor to state that point on the secondary report. I’m not sure about using 8th-grade transcript because it might not be acceptable.

Thanks for your response. We don’t have ‘junior high school’ or ‘middle school’ in my state - K-7 is primary and 8-12 is secondary.

Who should I ask about the 8th-grade transcript issue? The Common App people or each individual college?

each individual school actually
