Hello! I have already submitted the TAU for the different UC's I've applied to, but I need to change an answer about a class I'm going to take (I filled it out as a "planned" course, but I'm considering dropping it). Is there any way to change the information (I.E., re-submit it), or will I be able to update which classes I've actually taken later on? Or will they just see it on my transcript? Thank you very much!

Your Fall grades have to be submitted by the January 31st deadline. Any planned or in progress courses can be changed pretty much indefinitely after that for classes taken in winter or spring. Updating a course doesn’t guarentee the admissions officers so the longer you wait the less likely they are to see any changes. Also none of the classes/grades you list after Fall 2011 can help you for their admission decision, it can only hurt you if you have pre-reqs left and you don’t list them as being taken in Spring.

Well its not a pre-req for my intended major, just a general ed, which I will have completed. The work load as of now (22 units) is just going to be too much, and the semester just started, so I’d rather drop it now than struggle with it and take a W later. So, just for clarification, I can change it at any time? Or should I just go ahead, drop the class now, and re-submit the TAU before 1/31? Does it even matter?

You should make any updates as soon as you can, but if it’s a planned or in progress course for Spring your UC application will still be open after January 31st to update them. Once that date passes though you won’t be able to submit /edit Fall '11 grades. It does matter in the sense that if you wait too long they may have reviewed your application before you drop that class. Then if you submit your transcript and that course isn’t there they could rescind you, although i doubt they would go to that extent if it isn’t a pre-req/lower division requirement.

You can keep making changes until end of March. UCs just don’t guarantee they’ll take changes made after 1/31 into consideration for admission evaluation.

Well, if it’s not a major prep (just GenEd) and I’m still over 60 units without it, it’s probably not going to affect admissions decisions too much, correct? I’m all for dropping the class right now, but I’m waiting for a response back from my local UCSC admissions rep. If I don’t hear from her by the 31st, however, I’ll just drop it.

Pick up the phone and call … you’ll probably get an answer faster that way.
