So basically, I screwed up badly on my transfer academic update. I submitted it on the 23rd of January and just a few days ago, I was contacted by one of the campuses to update my TAU. I went over and reviewed through my TAU, making sure it was submitted and everything .. .and of course ... there's something wrong. I accidentally inputed all my planned course work for winter 2013 and spring 2013 in my fall 2012 grades category. My question is, if I resubmit my TAU, how would it affect my application? I know it says on the uc website that it will jeopardize my admission but I just wanted to check with you guys.

It’s hard to say. But I think it’s better that you submitted it on the 23rd rather than after the deadline; it would be worse if you input all your info correctly but submitted it after the deadline, I think. That’s what I did for Berkeley’s supplemental forms, I completed the TAU by the deadline but I completely forgot about the forms until two days ago (dumb, I know) and now I’m worried about my chances being jeopardized. I wouldn’t worry too much about your case though, we’re allowed to update it up 'til March and I’m sure they’ll see that it was an honest mistake. One of the campuses even notified you, right? Was that before or after the deadline?

It wont jeopardize admission…update it asap. You have until mid march (possibly later) to continue to update it, although obviously the later you update the greater the chance they already read your app and made a decision.

MissJun, they notified me after the deadline, Jan 31st. I still really don’t know if I should update it. On one hand, the other campuses I applied to did not notify me or anything, but on the other hand, if I don’t update it then the campus that notified me about updating it will just take it as I’m not interested anymore.

Definitely update it. Leaving a major mistake as it is will look really bad if you still have the power to fix it (especially to the school who notified you). And it’s not like the other schools who haven’t notified you won’t notice it or something; they definitely will. Moreover, you might get accepted to a school, then end up send them a contradictory transcript to the one they accepted you on, and you might get rescinded! Fix it. You messed up, but not as major of a mess up as other people I’ve seen here. I can’t say that you won’t get out completely unscathed, but it shouldn’t affect your application too much my friend.

Yeah, sunglassesishh, you must update it. I had assumed that you had done so already. Go ahead and do it, there’s more harm in not updating!

okay Thanks everyone!

Every time you update the TAU, the UCs get a notification that you made changes. While it’s up to each UC campus to determine whether to include the additional changes in review, in this case they will most likely just hold your application until you update it.
