Has any transfer student applying to the College of Human Ecology for the fall of 2008 received their admissions decision yet? And was the envelope thick, so you knew you were in?

Hey... I got the transfer option to the College of Human Ecology but I only recently got my online ID account to check my application status. I haven't heard back. Hav you?

I've been having problems with my online account, so I haven't been able to check it... Hopefully they come in the mail soon!
What exactly is the transfer option? Is it different than just transferring from another college like I am?

I got in!!

awesome Congrats! Yeah I got into Cornell ILR for Fall of 08 as a transfer too... Looks like we'll be at Cornell together!

Hey!
Congrats for getting transfered into Cornell!! I was wondering if any of you guys are planning on doing Cornell housing? If so, I was wondering if you would consider switching with me. Basically nothing changes for you except your lottery for what you want housing wise is at the top becuase I already have housing...I need to find a registered student who doesnt yet have a contract yet so I can drop my contract...I need to live off campus next year to help my friend out who just got a transfer to RISD and needs someone to live in her house...PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!

SIncerely,

Hello. I currently go to Bucknell and am looking to transfer to Cornell. I am thinking of majoring in psychology and was thinking Human Development would be easier to get into over Arts and Science's Psychology. Anyone have any input. I truly just want to get accepted and then I can figure out where I belong when I know exactly what I want to do.

What are your interests? You can certainly manage a very psychology-major-like curriculum as an HD major. That's exactly what I'm doing (fall 08 transfer). I would say the biggest thing is fit. make sure to express in your essay how human development is exactly what you're going for. Many HD classes are primarily psychology based, but still carefully consider other disciplines (sociology, anthropology, etc). Take a look through the course offerings for HD and get a feel for what they teach.

Getting in is going to be easier if you demonstrate this fit with the major, so I'd highly suggest figuring out where you belong (or get a good idea) before applying.

atvbballrob - yeah the HumEc, ILR, and CALS transfer rates are all deceptively high cause of something called Guaranteed Transfer (certain applicants who applied in HS were rejected but given GT so they're guaranteed a spot after 1-2 yrs), but without GT, the acceptance rate is much lower. So your chances of getting into HumEc are not that much better than getting into CAS. apply for whichever program you prefer...human development is not the exact same thing as Psych, so I think you should take a look into the course requirements and all that stuff. you can take courses from both schools if accepted though. good luck
i'm trying to transfer as well, but I can't settle on a major...probably humec, cas, or ilr.
