I have a question about transferring to a Cal State (Cal Poly Pomona) for my child. He getrs free tuioton where I work but can't stay and major in what he wants. Howeve,r he has messed up i a few classes and as you know, one F damages a decent GPA. His cumulative GPA right now is below 2.0. It will hopefully be better when this Fall semester is done but he has to apply right now. Since there is nothing like an admissions essay or other such materials, and apps are evaluated solely on GPA, location (preference is given to locals), and SAT scores (though I don't know if those are relevant for transfer), are his chances of being accepted 0? He is trying to get into an impacted program in fact, and I'm guessing that that makes things even worse. His major-type courses are fine but he chose some things outside of his area and really failed to do enough/the right work. Should I save my applicatin fee becuase he has not got a chance in this time-space continuum? Thanks.
