Transfer Admission

thedolls
- I hope you don't mind me asking, but what year will you be going into? (Junior, etc.?) Thanks.

I'll be going in as a junior...

I had a bad experinece with the people in Admissions last year when I got in as a transfer. Like most of you, starting May I would check the mail EVERYDAY hoping to receive a letter from USC. In August, I decided to call them and ask for a decision and they said I was admitted for the Spring and that I should have received something in the mail already - I told them I hadn't received anything and they said they would send in the letter. Two weeks later I still hadn't received anything so I called again - this time they told me it was too late to turn in my deposit and I told they guy on the phone that I hadn't received my letter yet and he didn't care. soooooooo, I got really mad and decided to go in person and talk to someone and they let me pay the deposit but I still had no letter. I ended up getting my admissions package until late OCTOBER!!!! This is just to show how slow they are!

Anyways, I just finished my last semester there and I'm loving it! :)

Good luck to those that are still waiting and congratulations to those that got in!

congratulations you guys for getting in me i just got rejected no worries because i'm getting ready to apply as a transfer!!! besides i figure i can save money in-state for now and still go for USC!!! and i would like to applaud you guys for trying again and good luck with USC!

PURO, that is horrible you had to wait so long! It's great to hear that you did get in though and are loving it now. I am in a crappy position because I'm in San Diego and my lease ends july 15th, so I'm hoping to have some clue as to if I'll get in to USC by then because I'll have to either move to LA or stay in SD and go to UCSD where I have been admitted. I wouldn't mind a Spring admit for myself because it would give me time to work and earn $ to pay for the tuition during the fall and winter.

NerdyUSCgurl, are you applying for fall of 07 as a sophomore? If so, good luck, and get prepared to deal with the drama of dealing with USC as a transfer.

Based on what I've heard (informally) the transfer admissions process will be much better this year and next than last year. Basically, last year they ran into a lot of unexpected problems that have been fixed now. Plus, last year they got significantly more transfer apps than they expected which compounded the problem.

If you dont mind what are ur stats? Although the Cinema TV Prod program is much more focused on the supplemental stuff than overall stats, so they won't mean as much as they do for other majors. Congrats. You're so luck you;ve heard already.

Do any of you know if USC considers second choice majors when reviewing the applications? My first choice was polisci which might be more impacted than my second choice of History. Either way I'd love to go to USC, so I'm just hoping to get in.

USC does consider second choice majors for transfer applicants. I applied as a first-choice Music Industry major and second-choice Economics. I got in as an Econ major but later switched to Music Industry so it's definitely possible to get in with your second-choice and then switching.

TrojanWannabe, I had a 3.6gpa at the Univ. of Texas at Austin. I think my major plus was that I founded a somewhat major dotcom during high school that is still thriving today. Least I figure that is what got me in since I didn't send them any short films or anything in my supp. app. I just had writing samples and a brief short script.

A Longhorn becoming a Trojan, interesting. I was looking into the the CNTV program but my real interest is TV and the CNTV program is almost completely film based. Your writing samples could have got you in because that is really waht they base most CNTV admissions on along with GPA im sure the dotcom helped as well. Congrats. If I haev to wait any longer I'm gonna go insanse especially because Im done with school after Friday so I'm gonna be bored as hell and all I'll be thinking about is USC. You're so lucky to have gotten in and to have heard already. Fight On! Maybe I'll see ya in the Fall.

Yeah definitely man. I don't know a soul in LA so I'll be looking to meet people. Anyway, good luck, hope you get in...

are you guys plannin on stayin in the dorms??? and how old is everyone?

if i get accepted... im gonna try to do the dorm thing...AGAIN... and im 22

will also try to do the dorm thing I am 20 years old

im 22...don't think I will do the dorm thing again, not really for me. im looking for a place out in los feliz.
