Transfer Admissions Chance?

I'm hoping to go to Michigan State after one year at Lansing Community College. The problem is that my during my fall semester I ended with a 3.2 GPA with 20 credits. Do they by any chance account for the spring semester before deciding (I'll be taking 15 credits)?

As far as I know transfer admissions is rolling so it’s hard to say. They might accept/deny you on the spot with your 1st semester grades, or they might defer you/wait until May when your 2nd semester grades come back to make a decision. A 3.2 is borderline admit so you definitely have a chance but it is by no means a certain one. Good luck!

So it turns out that they’re waiting for my spring grades because I’m currently taking a class necessary to transfer (and on the phone they said waiting for calc 2 as well, but that might just be a misunderstanding). I’m not too worried, but I was wondering if someone could shed some light on my current situation, I’m expecting the grades to end with:
Calculus 2 - 3.5-4 (it’s on the edge)
Abnormal Psychology - 3.5 (worst case scenario)
English 2 (class needed to transfer) - 3.5
Intro Physics II - 3.5

My main worry isn’t that my GPA will be too low, but more that - because it’s rolling admissions - I’ll have no chance by the time they actually look at my application.

Sorry, but I can’t seem to edit that last post. I just wanted to include a paragraph from the confusing email I received telling me of the incomplete application.

The following information/document is required: Lansing Community College
COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT - You have indicated that you anticipated enrolling, are currently enrolled, or were previously enrolled in one or more college courses. When the course(s) has been completed, it is REQUIRED that an OFFICIAL transcript be sent in a sealed envelope directly to the MSU Office of Admissions by the REGISTRAR’S OFFICE of the college attended. A HOLD will be placed and you will not be allowed to enroll for any term after your first term of enrollment until this transcript is received.

The part I don’t quite understand is the last sentence where it says they won’t allow me enroll for any term after the first term of enrollment. What does that mean for someone who is currently awaiting a decision?

Hi there!
I’m in literally the EXACT same boat as you. Currently a Freshman, they asked for my second semester grades because I am currently taking the english class requirement (probably equivalent to the same one you are in.)
Could someone shed some light on this? My last final exam is April 27, and the transcript will probably get to them maybe the second week in may? (AT THE LATEST).
Grades aren’t a big concern, 30 credits will be transferring with all integrative studies knocked out excluding the two science classes which I would take at MSU.
Is there a chance that with rolling admissions and not being reviewed until mid-may I would be too late and get shut out of MSU for next year? I’m very excited about attending, so I certainly hope not :/.

Don’t worry too much guys, if they are waiting on your spring semester grades to make a decision, chances are they are waiting on most other transfer students’ spring grades as well. They don’t even start reviewing transfer students applications until now as far as I know (as they’ve been busy with freshmen admission). You will still get a fair chance for admission.
