Any transfer applicants heard from Davis yet?

Here’s what I saw on their website today: 7,000+ transfers applied and there are only 1,800 spaces. 80-90% of those spaces will go to California residents. The rest of us have uncertain standing.

If you’ve heard from Davis, are you a Cali resident or out of state? What was your GPA and major choice?

I’m an out of state applicant, 3.4-ish GPA, Animal Biology

at first i thought they were only admitting in-state students until the last minute - accepting as many "decent" in-state students as possible and then reviewing oos students at the end of april. BUT i think some oos students have heard back, too... so i don't know.

I'm hoping to hear soon because I'm moving to California this May. If I get in, I'll move to Davis or Sacramento. If I don't get in, I'll just move back to my hometown in the bay area and continue taking community college classes.

The other part I'm confused about, is their having their transfer welcome day on the 27th of April. It's already the 12th. So either the people who have gotten in already know, or people far away won't be able to attend.

Yea, a lot of people heard back from Davis awhile ago on the transfer forum. Maybe they were just TAA applicants though. Wondering why it's taking so long for me... is it possible I've been rejected?

i'm just going to assume that no news is good news. there have been a lot of rejects... so if you'd been rejected, you'd know already. they probably just haven't gotten to our applications yet... or our applications have been set aside for later review.

Ya know, I haven't thought of it like that before Socal. That makes me feel a little better.

But for the people that don't get in, don't feel bad. The odds are really stacked up, especially for out of state students. My boyfriend did a really rough probability estimate... for out of state students it's "about" a 1 in 7 chance of being offered admission. He admitted he could be wrong.

Most California students shouldn't worry unless they didn't meet the requirements for their transfer major. So, relax Cali students.

Davis is not extremely difficult to get into for transfers. They do have some requirements though such as completing all your core classes for your particular major by the end of spring semester. I believe they allow you to miss 1 or 2 classes, but your chances go down a bit.

From my experiences talking to fellow students, if you complete your core classes and have a minimum overall UC-transferable gpa of 3.3, you're basically in at Davis. Only those 3.0-3.2 gpa borderline students should really worry, but it does depend on your major also because not all majors have the same # of open spaces, and some majors have more applicants competing for those open spots moreso than others.

What's odd is that I read in another thread that people were claming that for UCSD transfers, as long as you have a minimum gpa of 2.8, you will be admitted there. I'm not sure what to say about that as that's kinda shocking. That seems too good to be true. I haven't heard anything from UCSD yet concerning my decision.

Here's some info. I had an approved TAA on file with Davis with a 3.3 gpa in Computer Engineering and got accepted on 3/15. My friend who goes to the same cc as me has a 3.6 gpa in Civil Engineering. He did not have a TAA and was just a normal applicant. He got accepted on 3/15 also.

one thing i've noticed about the ucs' transfer admission procedures is that transfer rates alone mean little to nothing about an individual's chances at admission. transfer decisions are based on so many factors (ccc status, prereqs, guaranteed admission agreements, ca residency, stats, etc.) that overall transfer rates aren't very helpful...

I just checked this morning and my page was updated. I got accepted. 3.3 gpa, poli sci. decent essays, and an internship at a radio station for my EC's

rejected. out-of-state, 3.8, neurobiology, missing physics and stats pre-reqs. there was nothing else i could do this year... don't think i'll appeal or apply again next year.

so... staying at virginia tech or usc (fingers crossed)? only time will tell.
