Transfer applicant to Wisconsin

Hello Everyone. I am currently a student at the University of Miami in Florida. I am a sophomore and I am considering transferring to the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Many people think I am crazy to want that, but I have always loved the school.

Last year I received an overall GPA of 3.75.. 3.9 fall semester and around a 3.6 second semester. I mostly stacked up on journalism courses and graphic design courses as I am majoring in broadcast journalism and minoring in graphic design.

I will be entering as either a second semester sophomore or a junior, but preferably second semester sophomore.

What do you think my chances are? And if you have any opinions as to why Wisconsin might be better or worse, than please let me know.

I am aware that Miami is a great city, but I really do long for that college campus feel.

I dont want to take your thread in a direction that you didn’t want to go in - but I was curious (since I’m applying to both) what about Miami has you wanting to leave? It did seem rather bubble-like with no walking access to a town. I too loved Madison. Your GPA, as a transfer student, I would think, would be fine. You’re coming from a reputable college w/ a very good gpa.

Hey @KContennis. That’s pretty much my biggest issue. I currently live off-campus and I have found it extremely difficult to both get around and get involved ON campus. I do not currently have a vehicle, but it seems to be a necessity. Madison on the other hand is a true college campus… everything is accessible and the campus is awesome.
