Transfer Applicant

Hi, I was accepted into Florida State coming out of highschool, but I decided to spend two years at my home university, Florida International. FIU has recently dropped my major and there are not many classes availabe for my intended major. Now, I definetly have to leave. I applied to FSU in August 08 for the summer 09 term. After a few weeks, I was required to send in my fall term grades, which I had to wait for to come out since it was only September. I have sent them. My highschool grades got me accepted, but my college gpa is a 2.94, which is right below the "required". I spoke to the transfer officer in December and she told me that this shouldn't be a problem. I told her about my whole situation, and she seemed to sympathize with me Right now my status is "the admissions office has reviewed your application and it has been sent to the appropriate representative for review." Is this a good sign? I called her back last week and she said she will tell the reps to hurry with the decision. What do you think?

I think you probably have to sit tight and wait for a decision. Your application is complete, and I suspect all you can do is wait for it to be reviewed. Often, transfers are not accepted until just prior to the term you will be enrolling in, which is hard on the student. I would wait a few weeks, then call again.

In the interim I'd try and visit FSU and even try for a personal appointment with an admissions officer.

Good luck!

I'm curious as do when do the decisions come in for Transfer applicants. I have looked at the website I have everything all it says its pending Admissions review now. Does anybody know? I'm getting a bit anxious, do you have to wait till may or june or do they do it by a case by case process.

They do not group them to dates and deadlines like for freshman app's. I think they are rolling, case by case. That is a good question to email or call and ask. Just ask, once a case goes to review, what is the average time? I do know for transfers it could be April or May for summer and even into summer for fall.

It is supposedly a four to six week wait. I'm going up to Tallahassee in Mid-March, but this was primarily to search for apartments. It looks I will also most likely arrange an appointment for when I'm up there.

I haven't called them but I will one of these days I get free. How are the dorms for a transfer student who is going into his junior year? I know I will be headed in that direction so how are they for transfers?
