I'm probably transferring next year from NYU CAS to San Francisco City College in order to then transfer to a UC (hopefully UCLA). I'm only doing this for financial reasons. So I guess for fall '09 I'm applying to UCLA, UC San Diego, UC Berkeley, some other UCs, NYU Tisch (for dramatic writing), USC (for cinematic writing). Perhaps some other private schools too...more research is definitely in order.

"Anyone know if the transfer numbers for Stanford this year are out yet?"

Post #374 from Bourne who was accepted this year:

The 2008 Official Transfer results thread as well as the threads for individual schools should be required reading for any 2009 transfer hopeful.

what is the most important for transfering succesfully? high GPA, high level courses, or special ECs?

Read the sticky thread at the top of this forum: Transfer Admissions 101

Both brown and cornell offer spring 09 admissions?
I will be a freshman so would is be unwise to apply for sring 09 bc I would have weak relationships with profs

tiff...I dont know if it would be dumb, but I think you'd be good to wait. For the most part I would not apply for spring. I would give yourself the summer to decide and give yourself an extra semester. That is just my opinion though.

You're prior right. It be extremely hard to get everything together by nov 1 with soccer. Didn't know if it be less competitive for spring

Some claim that it is less competitive but I dont think so. I think that the schools that have spring transfer probably receive enough good applications for the small amount of spots that they have available. I think its good to realize that there are less applicants, but there are also a lot less spots so therefore I dont know if it's really that less competitive. It's also (from friend that I have had that have done it) a lot more stressful on the student. Trying to move and get registered and get everything ready in a VERY short amount of time. Those who have done it--again in my knowledge--have not really been happy the first semester b/c of all the different things going on.

Yeah, there are definitely less spots, and I believe Brown already had its spring deadline pass. IIRC when I looked it up it was the same as the fall deadline which is really stupid, but whatever.

I am transferring spring regardless though. I know it will suck, but I was accepted to the only school I applied to for fall (university of florida), but changed my mind and now am applying elsewhere. Not willing to wait any longer than spring, although most of the schools I am looking at have bad winter weather which will really suck moving in during january. I am going to visit Cornell in july though.

I have 65 credits now and am taking another comp course and one other course so I will have 71 at the end of fall. No way I am waiting until fall 09. Its not too big of a deal to wait until spring though because I am currently a full year ahead of my 07 HS graduating class. The two other classes I am about to take will give me 59 transferable credits to Cornell which is just one under the limit. I will lose 12 of the 21 credits I took in HS due to being used for HS graduation.

The 21 credits you took in HS wont really "count" at Cornell anyways I believe. That is how I understood their transfer credit policy.

I said I would lose 12 of them. Nine will transfer because they meet their requirements of being taking on a college campus with college students, and not going towards HS graduation requirements. I graduated from HS with 26 credits when I only needed 24. I have already gone over it with the ILR transfer counselor and he has stated all I need was a letter from my old counselor that states the above and I already have it in my possession, and will be sending after I finish the app in a few months.

Gotcha. I didnt know the details. So yeah 12 wont count, which is either is important or isn't to you.

Good luck with Cornell...you're right transferring in the Spring will probably suck LOL.

yeah, it is not a big deal since 71-12=59 which is just one under the maximum transferable credits anyways. The composition credit I took in HS will transfer though and so will the history which are the two most important to me.

Yes, transferring in the spring will really suck. Especially considering I am from FL and have always lived in FL. Since I have never seen snow it would be quite a drastic change of scenery...

Yeah. Good luck with that though. Hopefully you get in.
