Seems like everybody just cares about getting THEIR questions answered, and nothing else.

I sent an email to housing yesterday regarding deadlines. I’ll let everyone know their reply when they answer.

sttmdb - Thanks. I just called and they said that the priority date was May 1st even for transfers. And it is what it is if you were accepted after May 1st…and housing isn’t guaranteed for those students. So not fair…

I applied as a transfer student. My application status changed to “Admissions approved” as of today! I didn’t apply for housing though…

Accepted! Dodge College for Public Relations and Advertising

congrats letschatabout and ckcalif!!

yeah…this housing thing is a real problem. i called and they said i have to just til i get my acceptance packet to apply and i still didn’t receive it. i can’t go if i can’t get a dorm :[

and ckcalif, same major as me! ;]

Korhawaus, thanks! Why can’t you go if you don’t get a dorm? Is an apt not an option for you?

Uhm…well i guess it is it’s just a bit pricey and i really wanted to live in a dorm since i’m not living in a dorm at my current school either. But…how expensive is the OC? im not too familiar with the area…and i thought there were only houses around chapman? lol

And i got my acceptance packet today. They gave me enough money to go lol :D

Congrats! As for housing, you could live in a house with roommates. There are flyers up all over the school for people looking for roommates to share houses nearby. Dorms aren’t the only option. And at Chapman, the dorms are fairly expensive. It might be cheaper to rent a house w/ roommates.

Well I work in Anaheim and stay with my boyfriend when I’m there and his rent for a 3 br 2bath is 1570$ total. Some are above and some are below but I’ve found that’s a pretty good price especially for where his apt is located

Ah i see. thanks for the information. well i guess housing is an option, it’s just i’d prefer not to my first year at Chapman…i want to try and get the whole experience, but i mean if worse comes to worse i guess that leaves me no option but to start looking for roommates and apts :/

am i in if my status says admissions approved? thanks guys

The apartments around Chapman are a little on the pricey side. There’s the Renaissance, the Avalons, a bunch near the Anaheim stadium, and also houses for rent in walking distance from the university. One bedrooms at these apartments cost around $1200+ and the two bedrooms are around $1500+. I moved to Orange from the bay area 2 years ago and currently live in a 3 bedroom house/condo-ish & 2 bathrooms, paying $300 a month plus utilities (I got really lucky because my friend’s parents own the house). You can also find cheaper apartments out in Fullerton, which is a 15 minute drive to Chapman, but that’s if you have a car. The dorms cost just as much as renting these apartments though…but the new dorms are really really nice! Also keep in mind that if you’re gonna drive to campus, parking gets super hectic unless you’re taking evening classes or something. So living in the dorms is probably more convenient! Good luck! hahah

And yes, you got accepted if your status changed to admissions approved! Congrats!!!

Still waiting, have called, just needed to vent a little…

workworkwork-whats your last name start with? and are you going for film production too?

Starts with T and I applied as a transfer for Accounting.

It’s getting down to the wire now. I’m still waiting to hear back. All of my materials were submitted by March 1st; although, file was not officially complete until the 19th. I applied as a film major. I’m confident in my stats, recs, essays, etc. However, the wait is getting to be pretty brutal…a lot of unneeded angst.

Anyone else in the same boat? I think I’m starting to tread some water.

I’m right there with you, matt. I applied for Film Production as well, but have yet to receive any official word of admission or not. It’s getting pretty competitive at this point… My guess is that there will be many qualified students placed on ‘waiting lists’ this fall.

Same here. Last 2 times i was told i could expect an answer mid-may or by june 1st so i guess any day for us now. ;/
