as of today 5/20 “file complete, decision pending” good or bad thing? lol

Hey everyone, I too am a transfer student. I applied to the business program. A little update on my status: on 5/12/2010 I got an email from them asking me to give them my grade in one of my classes. My teacher emailed it to them( I had a B) and by the grace of God, as of today(5/20/2010) my status changed to admission approved. I hope this instills some hope into the rest of you who are waiting. Try and hang in there everybody! I know it sucks and in some ways, it feels like some cruel form of torture, but eventually you will hear back. Good things come to those who wait!

Ok i’m nervous now. I applied to chapman and i just saw my status changed from “decision pending” to “decision complete.” Judging by what i’ve just read, people who have been accepted are saying theirs changed to admissions approved. For me, it says decisions are only provided through the mail. I noticed i am able to surf through the new student orientation which I wasn’t able to do so before. However knowing my luck I probably didn’t get accepted Even though my essays were really strong and my grades were pretty strong. Has anyone gotten accepted after seeing it change to decision complete? Because it clearly states they only provide decisions through the mail.

Also the fact that I see new student orientation available under communications and I wasn’t able to see that before…is that a good sign or mean nothing? Again it says “decision complete” so going by what i’ve read on here, its not looking good And i’ve read people got rejected with 3.5’s and mines around a 3.0 ish depending on what classes transfer. I’ve also read people being accepted with F’s :-/ I applied under communications. I’m really nervous. Chapman is my #1 and i would be SO happy to go there. So would my family.

veryhopeful55, I’m sorry to hear that your status changed like that. I’m not sure that the ability to cruise though the new student orientation is any indication of anything. If you look hard enough on their website, you can find the new student orientation pages. “decision complete” could mean that you got put onto the waitlist. I’d say, all hope is not lost, but look for any other options if you have any or just try again in the spring. Maybe you could contact the admissions office to see about spring admission?

Thanks for your advice transfermatt. I contacted admissions office this morning after not being able to sleep the past 4 nights. They said they are unable to give any admission acceptance/rejections over the phone but decision complete does NOT mean rejection and she had no idea why some people get admissions accepted on their webadvisor and some get decision complete because it doesn’t mean anything. She said wait for the letter in the mail and if I receive nothing in the mail within the next week then to call again.

I was messing around and I tried logging in and activating my chapman email account and it worked? It says my account was activated and everything. Again, not trying to get excited over anything but do all applicants automatically have a chapman email? Because online it says the panthermail is only meant for newly admitted students and current students.

GAHHHH I can’t take this anymore.

One thing though, Chapman is very helpful and they really go out of their way to help you and make sure your questions are answered. All are extremely nice and I really want to go there! But its not looking good. :-(

@ veryhopeful55,

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but speaking as someone who has received ‘decision complete’ in the past – you’ve either been wait-listed or denied admission. I was denied admission when I applied straight out of high school. According to other posts, however, some were wait-listed.

Don’t stress. I wouldn’t go searching for ‘clues’ to see if you’ve been accepted. Chapman already made their decision. It’s good to be hopeful and optimistic, but don’t psyche yourself into believing something that may or may not be true.

Best of luck…and sometimes it all comes down to luck. The people that got accepted with a few F’s or a lower GPA may have had a great personal statement or an odd hobby…who knows. It is what it is.

ah when I applied straight out of high school and received “decision complete”, my admission was denied. And this year my status changed to “admissions approved”…

good luck!

admission approved as of today!

Chappenings

There is a posting on Chappenings that mentions transfers still waiting.

“If your application is complete and you have not yet heard back from us you should be receiving an admission decision SOON.”

If only there were a specified date attached to that “soon”…

Waiting in application purgatory or better yet limbo is not at all fun.

received admission complete today

guess it’s time to appeal!

Sorry to hear that bay. I’m still stuck in limbo. As soon they update my webadvisor, I’ll let everyone know my status. I can only hope for the best.

I got “decision complete”. I’m sending a letter requesting I get to delcare a second intended major. Any advice on what to do when you get “Decision Complete”? I know what it means, and it’s not really good.

It depends on how far along you are as a transfer kmac. If you are transferring as a frosh, then you could try to apply again as a junior; maybe call up admissions and ask what classes they’d recommend. I did this when I was denied straight after high school. Some classes that they wanted were strange, at least, for a standard NY FFC.

Or you could appeal, but you’re really only supposed to appeal if you win an award, have updated grades, and/or can provide new information that was originally left out of your application.

Thank you for the reply matt119. I appreciate it. I’m trying to transfer as a junior. Do you know if some programs at Dodge College are a little bit easier to get into. Can I select a second and third intended major, because I only choose one intended major on my app. Can I try another field maybe?

any transfer students looking for housing options for next year??

I was accepted into Chapman as a rising junior for a B.S. in Accounting at the beginning of May, but I’m still dithering on whether or not I should go. Does anyone know how hard it is to double major at Argyros/is the Trustee Scholarship pretty common?

dtransfer, I’ve been asking around and the main transfer rep told me that they have been saving SOME housing for all the transfer students who received their letter late. She also said to complete the housing application no later than mid June. In addition to that, I saw somewhere that they were planning to have put 3 people into the usual double room. I guess all we can do is apply as soon as possible.

do you know if most transfer students live in the on campus housing or if they live off campus?
