Hey everyone! This is my first time on CC!! I was hoping someone could help me increase my chances of being accepted to Tech next Fall. I am transferring there as an Economics major. I am currently taking Calc 1, Gen Chem, Comp1, Engr Graphics. Next semester I will take Calc2, Comp2, American Govt. Computing for Engineers, and Environmental Geology. Right now, I have a 4.0. Hopefully it will stay that way. But, I was wondering does Tech only look at GPA when you transfer? What is the application process like? And What is the difference between the application date and document deadline? If anyone can answer these questions that would be greatly appreciated!!

Hey there!
My first question is why are you taking computing for engineers and engineering graphics as an Econ major? Keep in mind that they will not let you change your major once you get there. When I talked to the admissions office on the phone they used the word “impossible” and said I needed to be prepared to graduate in the major applied for.
They pretty much only look at gpa, courses taken, and total credit hours. The application is basically just general personal information, a grade report, and a list of current classes, and then a small optional short personal statement 1000 characters or less.
The application deadline is the date by which you need to submit your online application, while the document deadline is the date that all of the classes required to apply must be completed and transcripts from them postmarked and sent in.
Good luck and try to keep the 4.0!

Hey! thanks for replying! I was a civil engineering major in retp, but hated it so I changed to my plan B. Great! I hope I can get in! It has always been my dream to go to Tech, but was to scared to apply last year… Now, I am regretting it!

You may want to check out this chart: http://www.hyperion.gatech.edu/reports/irp/Transfer-in_GPA_PDF.pdf It looks like they dont get many economics majors so the average gpas are probably a little unreliable but I think you should be able to get in no problem

Oh that’s a great chart thanks! Thanks for all of your help!
