I'm in CUNY right now and i applied to transfer at Baruch for spring 09 (within CUNY), a friend of mine that attends Cornell told me that i have "good chances" to get into Cornell so i decided i want to apply as a transfer student.I'm filling out my common application, but I'm confused, should i fill it out for spring 09 at Cornell (deadline is oct 1 and i don't think i have time to do it then) OR should i do the one for fall 2009 (deadline feb 15)?
I'm also concerned if transfering at Baruch and them wanting to transfer again will affect my application? :(((....

i really need some opinions, i don't know how ivy app work (but i know they are so complicated).....:(

Hey, don't worry, I'm trying to transfer to Cornell too.
Use the '09 Common App, and you have until November 1st, the filing period is from October 1- November 1. I am pretty much completely stuck and have not even started writing my essays for the app, but I think as long as you get things done by last week of October you should be all set.

And Ivy apps are not complicated don't worry. Cornell uses the common app, so you do that. They also have a supplement which is just like your name again some facts about you yet again and an essay they give you the topic to (I know this 'cos I applied last year and got rejected lol).

But yeah, if you like the school and want to transfer there give it a shot, the worst that can happen is you get rejected, no biggie, it's life. :)

I hope my post makes sense, I'm slightly sleep deprived so my sentences might be confusing.

I'm thinking of applying there as well, not sure if I want to go there or stay at NYU (i'm a freshman)

If I apply, it will be for fall '09, when is that deadline? I'm guessing I would start applying this spring for that. But I might apply for spring '09 instead, so they will focus more on my nyu grades and not so much on my hs grades

and what you said sort of doesn't make sense, 'cos if you apply for this spring I think they will focus more on your high school, 'cos you won't have spent that much time in college as compared to when you apply in the fall.

In eny event NYU is a good school and you probably have a decent shot :)

thanks travelbook
oh sorry I meant spring '10, not '09. Wow I keep forgetting it's already 2008, haha. then they could see my my grades for all of freshman yr at NYU, rather than just 1st semester, which is what they would see if I applied for spring '09

The reason I'm worried is because I was also rejected in HS (CAS; undeclared, although now I would apply for the Govt major). But my junior/senior HS grades were much higher than freshman/soph, so if I applied now hopefully they will pay more attention to grades 11, 12, and college. 2 bad grades from grade 8 (hs classes) and a terrible art grade from 9th grade are bringing down my hs gpa. My hs gpa is 3.5 UW, but if you take out the art class grade, and the 8th grade grades, it's a 3.65 UW.

hmmmm very interesting all the posts but cals sent me an email that i have to complete bio classes for the whole year....:(...i hate bio...im business major i dont even know which college i should apply at cornell bc i cant find which one has accounting and finance....but if you transfer at cornell what plays a major role on you app? (i hope not SAT)....btw do i have to take ACT (never took it btw)
