I am currently an honors student at Quinnipiac University with a dissapointing 3.2 (transferable i think is a 3.4) first semester which should b raised drastically this semester but i'm involved in econ/finance club, honors program and a co-founder of the Honors Business Organization. What are my odds?

Also i hear it is rare for transfer students to get on-campus housing which leads me to my second question to those familiar with the campus and its surroundings. I've been looking at Inwood Manhattan since the Bronx is not a place to live at 18 of campus. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

There are lots of safe areas in the Bronx to live that are much closer to campus. A couple of options: Only 5-10 minutes away is the Morris Park area. Indian Village by Jacobi hospital is particularly nice & you may be able to rent a basement apt in this area. Woodlawn is 10 minutes north, a very Irish section of the Bronx with great Irish pubs. I would imagine any rent in NYC would be steep for a student and you may be better off finding a student with an apartment that needs a roommate. Residential life my be able to help you find an off campus roommate.

Also, odds are better for a possible dorm for transfer students who apply to the fall semester because obviously very few rooms open up for spring transfers.

Get your grades up next semester to raise your GPA as they will look at your college & hs transcripts & when you have completed a full year of college - no SAT necessary. They offered my d a room for the fall semester and she could easily commute, but I am sure that the offer came because of her exceptional grades & that they lke having students like her on campus.

Good luck.

Thanks a lot for your post it helped a ton!
