Is that your high school GPA? I see you put ‘uw’ for unweighted. But I do believe the Biochemistry program is a Interdisciplinary Study at UF. And according to the following links, UF doesn’t allow transfer students to apply directly to interdisciplinary programs. You can check with a CLAS Advisor.

I was just accepted for Biochemistry for fall of 2011 and I had a 3.7 GPA but I did come from a CC and not a 4 year university and I know that coming from a 4 year can hurt your chances some. How are you doing as far as pre-reqs? When I transfer I will have taken Gen. Chem. 1+2, Orgo 1+2, Bio 1+2, Calc 1-3, and Phy w/calc 1. But I only think you must have all of gen. chem, bio, and calc 1 with an option for calc 2, here is the link https://www.isis.ufl.edu/cgi-bin/nirvana?MDASTRAN=RSI-ETMEN . In my case I had already begun the sequence in physics and orgo before I found that link and I said I didn’t need to for transfer and when I spoke to the advisor over the phone she said to go ahead and finish out orgo series but stop at physics w/ calc 1 (I am pre-health as well and I am pretty sure the reason they told me to stop was that med schools would rather see those classes taken at a 4 year).

Kscool, yes there is an interdisciplinary program for Biochem/Molecular Bio but there is also a Biochem track for Chem majors which is what I applied to.

I talked to one of my Consolers today and she said I’m signed up for all pre-reqs by next spring to transfer to UF. How much do u think they will weigh my high school transcript?

Well as a transfer student they should be only viewing your high school transcript to see if you have the foreign language requirement met if you didn’t take it in college. UF only accepts transfers with an AA or 60 college credits. I’m sure you already knew this. Your high school gpa is not that important, or maybe not important at all, since you should be coming in with an AA or 60 credits from FGCU.

Ok thank you so much to all who answered I’ll be looking at my transfer options.

The reason I want to transfer (to those who might be curious) is that I want to go to grad school so I feel to better my chances to get in to a good one I should transfer to a better university.

Also FGCU does not have a biochemistry program.

I decided to go to FGCU because they offered me alot of FA to attended soo it was a great opportunity I thought.

Hello everyone.
Is this the thread for transfer students who are hoping to gain admittance to UF for the Fall of 2012?
I have been searching for the correct thread, but there are so many of these out there!
