Transfer Chances Feedback Much Appreciated

Hey guys, so I'm applying as a transfer student this year and I am currently attending Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College a.k.a CUNY Honors Hunter which has become much more selective in the past five years. My gpa right now is a 3.9 for the following courses: Intro to Biology, Intro to Chemistry, Intro to Psychology and CHC Arts in New York City (a mandatory freshmen requirement which discusses the arts of NYC). I'm finishing Biology and Chemistry lectures and labs this semester and taking an upper level Psych Course and another mandatory Immigration in NYC Class. My high school gpa was 99.84 weighted, rank 11/577. I received decent marks on my SAT 2190 overall- 670 Math 730 Verbal and 790 Writing. My SATS were really low- Math IC- 660 and US History 690. For my letter of recommendation, I am getting my Professor of the Arts class to write it, he knows me fairly well and was a professor at both Columbia and Duke. I am currently extensively involved in a program to teach underprivileged kids in NYC about Drug Abuse which I plan to use in my essay, am organizing a team to raise money for cancer research and am a volunteer at Bellevue Hospital. I am applying to Columbia, Penn, UChicago, Duke, Johns Hopkins and Dartmouth. Plase give any info you can on my chances and any tips you may have for the transfer process and transfer essay.

good choices, i would aim for Columbia its a big opportunity to demonstrate you can do it, so yeah i believe you will be more likely to be accepted in most of them because you have a lot of support with all activities and programs you are working on, good luck and in concern to your essay, try to answer the question they ask you to answer, don't talk a lot about unnecessary things, be sensitive and try to show that you are inspired, use your team to raise money for cancer and also use your program of teaching kids about drug abuse they both will show the universities/colleges that you are very interested in a progress for life.

Your SAT/SAT II scores are hardly impressive for an Ivy League applicant, but it seems you are a competitive candidate nonetheless. In short, your numbers are in the ballpark, so your essays and recommendations will be that much more important to tip the scales in your favor.

Are you a junior transfer? If so, it is likely your scores will be mitigated by your GPA/college transcript.

I am transferring for admission as a sophomore next fall. I am also getting a recommendation the director of my drug abuse program who is a Columbia alum, would that help my Columbia chances in anyway.. its my number one..

getting a rec letter from a grad of said school isnt going to mean to much in and of itself, try to get somebody who could better voice your academic potential. will come down to your ec's, recs, and essays for all schools i would imagine
