I am currently in class 12 and will be appearing for the boards exams this march.I was unfortunate to realize my aim just 3 months back and hence i am striving hard for it.
i want to pursue a bachelor course in mechanical engineering in a good Ivy league school

fortunately i am involved in tons of extracurricular activities and have also been the vice head boy of my school last year.my academic record isnt that great. apart from my class 10 th boards i dont have a good score in past 3 years. my hopes are high for these board exams. i scored a mediocre 70% in my preboards. i dont expect to get in these universities as a freshman hence i am planning to apply through a transfer and i wanted the details about the same.
please tell me about the exams, academic requirements, and any thing else that may be essential for transfer.
consider Harvard, MIT, Stanford etc while listing the information.
i am desperate to get admission and i am ready to do anything for it.

I have the same condition as you.
Please contact me as soon as possible I can guide you.
MIT and Harvard and Stanford are most selective and very tough to go in.
They require excellent academic records and extra curricular activities. They also need good participation in the field which you are interested.
I am from India,Mumbai.

It’s ridiculously difficult to transfer into an Ivy
and it seems to me that you are just after the Ivy prestige cause there are several schools that are better for engineering than harvard, brown, dartmouth etc
Be realistic and aim for schools u have a shot at getting into like georgia tech, uiuc,ut austin etc
cause if u apply only to ivies u better be prepared for disappointment

@shourya2609- dont you think i have chances for improvement?i have around 2 years in my hand to work and make sure i reach those levels that these universities expect.also, i can cover up the dip in my academics in 11th grade, with the college GPA’s.i wasnt considering other colleges like georgia tech, uiuc,ut austin etc as there would be no point in transferring if it isnt any prestigious university.

Please tell me what must be done henceforth so that i can improve my chances of getting in. disappointment isnt a concern.i have started late enough to ensure myself a guaranteed seat in the ivys :(.

@AdolfHitler - nope.i cant pay.need sponsors.I will have to do something about that but currently i am worried if the ivys will consider my transfer application or not.and i need them to consider it.anyways thanks for the wishes…please do inform if you come across anything helpful. thanks.

Most colleges don’t give aid to international transfer students who need fin aid. Check each college you are interested in individually, but on the whole it will be very, very difficult to transfer into a college. Given that, a gap year is more advisable if you can make a lot out of it.

Wtastycles- thats the plan here.looking at the portfolio of those indian students who got in through transfer,it was clear that along with a high GPA, you need to do some research/out of the box activity in the field that you belong to.this one student from IT-BHU had 2 papers published in the physics journal!..so i can say i know what i am looking at here.i just need the necessary guidance to increase my chances of getting in. thanks a lot though. let me know if you come across anything useful.

blumox, do you live in Mumbai? I can recommend an excellent college counselor who can guide you through the entire process, from where to apply to finding opportunities for research before you go to college. PM me for more.

@akietta I think it was worth every rupee. Considering how much college costs, I don’t feel that leaving even one stone unturned due to money is worth it.

@tastycles-can you help me out with financial aid as well?my concern is not only about getting admin but also the financial aid.with fees around $50000+ in almost all good colleges, i desperately need aid.
