Transfer chances from MIT

I am currently a freshman at MIT, and am considering a transfer out because of the engineering obsessed/one sided atmosphere. I am curious what my chances would be of transferring into colleges where I was accepted as a senior, or possibly colleges where I was not accepted.

I was also accepted EA at MIT, Reg at Brown, Stanford, Columbia, UPenn, CMU CS. I was waitlisted at Princeton and denied at Harvard.

(Computer Science Student)
SAT (700V/800M/800W), SAT II (Math I 770, Math II 800, Chem 740)

MIT runs their first semester on pass/fail, and, per the recommendation of everyone at MIT, I took the first semester as a time to not worry about classes and get adjusted socially while trying out some new extra-curriculars. I performed at about B performance, and I felt I didn't really get to know any profs to write me a great recommendation. The grades don't show up on any transcript (it's pass/fail), but I worry that I didn't get to know my TAs or profs well enough for a great recommendation.

I am considering a transfer to Brown, Princeton, or possibly Harvard. What are my chances?

Princeton doesn't accept transfers, but you are probably in everywhere else. Good luck:)

(There are many students who successfully transfer from MIT to Harvard, if I'm not mistaken).

why do you want to transfer out of MIT?! Im applying there as a transfer student for fall 2007. I visited the school recently and I loved every minute of it!

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence?

MIT is a high-stress environment, and some students simply cannot function in it. There is nothing wrong with that. It is just a question of which pedagogy you agree with; some prefer the relaxed atmosphere of Brown, and some prefer the intensity of MIT.

Thanks nspeds... that was really helpful. I'm still in the preliminary stages of checking out my options so I hadn't really looked into the specifics of Princeton.

I highly suggest that you research all possible options. You don't want to have two decisions in your hand in June, while wishing that you had applied to more schools.

In addition, if things have not changed, Harvard's transfer application is due in the middle of February. You will need to plan quickly so you can have a good application prepared and recommendations sent on time.
