TRANSFER CHANCES (ONLY DC SCHOOLS)

Hey everyone,
I was in a 6 year pharmacy program at University of Rhode Island, bunch of things happened, switched my majors to economics, and everything turned out that only schools that I will be willing to attend are schools in DC and around.

HS specs(Doesn’t count because I have over 30 college credits, but for curiosity sakes):
SAT: 2070
GPA: 4.2 weighted, 3.5~3.6 unweighted?

ECs (I wasn’t very active in college, so I will be using my HS ECs):
-President and founder of a Cultural Club
-President’s Volunteer Service Award (Gold level)
-3rd Degree black belt
-2 internships (one at a pharmacy, other at a dentistry)
-Library Volunteer
-Community service hours rack up between 150 to 300 hours

College specs:
GPA: 3.79
16 credits from HS AP credits, 30 from freshman year, and will be taking 12 in 1st semester sophomore year.
(46 credits when I apply)

Essay:
Essay on special connection to DC, related to helping the homeless + reasons for transferring (I’m a decent writer).

Additionals:
2 letters of recommendation from professors that I am very close with.

I will be applying to the following schools for spring 2017 as an BS in Economics major, transferring sophomore

  1. George Washington University
  2. American University
  3. Loyola University Maryland

Also, are spring transfers for these schools less competitive for these schools?

Thanks everyone

bump?

GPA looks good, and the schools aren’t that difficult to get in, so I’d say you have pretty good chances. over dependence on high school es’s aren’t preferable, so I’d suggest that you join a few clubs next fall.

Thank you so much olliegt! I will definitely try to put down couple of college ECs on my application

I got into American. Your stats are similar to mine. I think you will be fine.

@atp1234 how about GWU? Did you apply to there as well?

@MrGoalkeeper I got lazy and decided not to. I wish I would have!

@atp1234 Thank you :slight_smile:

I think you’ll get into most, if not all, of those universities. Which is your preference? Have you visited them? I’m a GWU grad and I really liked the urban setting, though it’s expensive to live in Foggy Bottom so I always lived out in the suburbs and commuted by Metro. American has more of a “campus” feeling, but it’s not as easy to tromp around DC from there. I don’t know much about Loyola. Good luck.

@bookmouse My cousin says that I can live with him in DC so housing isn’t a problem for me. GWU is definitely my top choice.

Good luck, MrGoalkeeper, Foggy Bottom is an exciting part of DC and GWU has a lot to offer.
