GWU SPRING TRANSFER 2017 (CHANCE ME PLEASE!)

Hey everyone,
I was in a 6 year pharmacy program at University of Rhode Island, bunch of things happened, switched my majors to economics, and everything turned out that only schools that I will be willing to attend are schools in DC and around.

HS specs(Doesn’t count because I have over 30 college credits, but for curiosity sakes):
SAT: 2070
GPA: 4.2 weighted, 3.5~3.6 unweighted?

ECs (I wasn’t very active in college, so I will be using my HS ECs):
-President and founder of a Cultural Club
-President’s Volunteer Service Award (Gold level)
-3rd Degree black belt
-2 internships (one at a pharmacy, other at a dentistry)
-Library Volunteer
-Community service hours rack up between 150 to 300 hours

College specs:
GPA: 3.79
16 credits from HS AP credits, 30 from freshman year, and will be taking 12 in 1st semester sophomore year.
(46 credits when I apply)

Essay:
Essay on special connection to DC, related to helping the homeless + reasons for transferring (I’m a decent writer).

Additionals:
2 letters of recommendation from professors that I am very close with.

Also, are spring transfers for these schools less competitive for GWU?

Thanks everyone

bump?

Honestly, I don’t know what the Admissions folks look for when it comes to transfers (even though I was, but I think it was a different situation entirely). I know GPA is important and you look good-to-go at a 3.79. I don’t know if it’ll matter that you didn’t have any EC’s freshmen year, as freshmen are “typically” getting used to college life and not as focused on EC’s. In my opinion, I think that other than your GPA, your reason/essay for transferring will be the biggest factor.

There’s nothing wrong with finding out that you don’t want to stay at your current school, but what makes you think that you have it all figured out after only a year? It’s not uncommon for undergrad students to not know what they’re going to do until the end of their sophomore year. Anyway, something to think about while you’re writing-up your essay. Good luck!

Thank you so much NHuffer!
I will definitely make the essay as special as possible. I was presented with various opportunities relating to my desired career that happened at the right place at the right time and it was too good to let it pass up haha :).
