im am currently a freshman at the University of Miami and I really want to transfer to UVA next fall...I am applying for biomedical engineering. I applied last year but about 2 weeks before decisions came out i switched my app from architecture to engineering...(i like to tell myself that was the reason why i was waitlisted haha)

high school stats:
GPA UW-4.3ish
GPA W-3.98
rank-1, valedictorian
ACT-30
received IB diploma and good ECs

college GPA 3.94

any thoughts?? i think my essays are a lot stronger this year so im hoping that makes a difference this year. also does it help that i was waitlisted last year??

thanks!!

I think you have a great chance of acceptance. I don't know about the waitlist helping your chances, but I kind of think so, don't you? I'm a little surprised that you didn't get accepted last year. Best of luck. Somewhere in your application are you going to mention the waitlist and how much you really want to be at UVA? I think I would if I were you.

well i talked about how much i want to go to virginia and why im transferring in one of my essays and they asked if we applied previously and whether we got accepted or not but it never asked if we were waitlisted but im sure they have that on file somewhere because they said i didnt need to send my ACT scores again.

also in the letter they sent me that said i didnt get off the waitlist last year, yes i kept it haha, the last paragraph read:

"If you are interested in pursuing the possibility of transferring to the University after one or two years in another college or university, I would be pleased to provide information to you on how that can be accomplished."

Is that a good sign even though its from last year?? or do they just write that one everyones letter to make them feel better haha??

I think they probably do add that sentence about pursuing transfer to UVA to all the waitlisted people. I know you probably hated being waitlisted, but you were so close, and it means they really thought you were a good contender for the University.
I like the sounds of what you wrote in one of your essays, it reflects your true intent, and I think it will prompt them to realize that yes, you were one these waitlisted students Best of luck to you.
