My chances at UVA? :)

Alrighty, so I'm currently a freshman at Lynchburg College in Virginia, majoring in Biology (in the pre-med program) with math and physics minors. My GPA from my first semester was a 3.62. My extracurriculars were Resident Student Organization (which I was the events coordinator), Big Brothers Big Sisters, American Chemical Society, and Student Activities Board.

I applied to the engineering school at UVa, as I've decided that I'd rather go into Biomedical engineering because it would give me more options after undergrad. For my why are you transferring essay I wrote about the disadvantages of going to a smaller school as opposed to going to a larger school (less course offerings, less opportunities basically). For my essay on my future plans I wrote of the broader range of opportunities that biomedical engineering would present, as opposed to just biology. And I chose the essay dealing with the cliched question of choosing three people to eat dinner with as a dialogue between me, Rosalind Franklin, Elie Weisel, and Liz Murray.

In high school, I only averaged a 2.8 (took me 4 years to find my priorities), I had a 1580 on my SATs, and I did Marching band for 4 years, symphonic band for 2 years, drama club and history club.

Any input as to my chances would be great :) Been so nervous since I sent off my transcript haha.

Im in your same boat. Im a sophomore at JMU. Lucky for me they don’t put much stock in my high school record since I am a sophomore, it was decent (3.6 gpa 1860 SAT) but not UVA standards. I got a 3.4 at Va Tech and a 3.86 last semester at JMU. Although this would be my second transfer I have legitimate reasons. Hopefully your SAT score is not 1580/2400 though…being a freshman they look equally at your college and high school work. Anyways good luck…all us prospective UVA transfers need it…seems to me like a total crapshoot in admissions.
