Transfer chances to UCSD/UCI/UCR

Hey guys, I hate being "that guy" who registers and instantly posts, but I've been reading threads on this board for the last few days and couldn't find one similar to mine.

Here's my deal.

I've been at a CC since my sophomore year of high school (crazy mom, don't ask) which has been roughly 5 years now. I started out with a pathetic GPA, then got serious about college and worked my way from a 2.0 up to a 3.07 (where I stand after this semester.) My problem was that I took a ton of units my first couple years, so it's been harder to raise my GPA up quickly.

I met with a counselor over a year ago and was dead set on doing TAG to UCSD and he put me on this plan that would accomplish that goal perfectly. Problem was, his plan didn't work. It was based upon the assumption that I would take my final math class in the spring and transfer in the following fall. Unfortunately, he neglected to tell me that I have to have all my math/english classes done by this current Fall semester in order to qualify for TAG transfer in Fall of 2019.

Now I'm officially freaking out.

I hadn't visited any other campuses since UCSD is where I figured I was guaranteed to get in. Applications are due in 10 days and the only school I know anything about is UCSD.

I'm going to apply to UCSD as a regular transfer anyways (I live in San Diego), and in speaking with the counselor down at UCSD I was told that last year they accepted everyone down to a 3.0, but she didn't know how that was going to change this year, obviously.

I'm also applying to UCI and UCR (and UCB, but that's only to appease my crazy family, which has like 10 graduates from there going back to my great grandparents)

So basically, do I have a shot at any of these schools or am I royally screwed?

I was thinking that worst-case scenario I could do TAG for winter at UCSD, but alas that's gone too.

Ah!!!

Also, I have my IGETC sheet finished and my major GPA (political science) is a 3.8 (not sure if that matters)

I wouldn’t worry too much. It is out of your hands at this point. Your major GPA should help. A 3.8 major GPA shows that you can handle courses in your major, so I think you’ll get into UCSD if that is where you really want to go. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply!

I’ve literally had trouble sleeping the last few days since I found out about this problem, but I understand it’s out of my hands. I really really really REALLY hope I get into UCSD though. If not, Irvine is my 2nd option.

Sorry for the thread bump! but…
I might have a similar problem… you see,I’m going to apply next fall, and unfortunately I wasn’t able to get into my math class this fall or spring, so I was planning to take it the fall that I’m going to apply. And its possible that my whole county wont offer Summer session!

Sp does this lower my chances of getting in? Am I not going to be able to get TAG?
My GPA is 3.6, but I/m looking to get it to a 3.8.

Can anyone answer my question?

Not to be mean, thisisu, but it seems like you just hijacked this thread, which belongs to Grimes99. I would post your question as a new thread.

hey grimes, it seems like you are pretty much in ucsd. I wouldnt worry AT ALL.

i dont know, but i would think that ur major gpa would help, i know ppl who gotten in with a 3.2ish, so i would think ur probably in, plus u have an upward grade trend (idk how big a role that plays tho).
