TRANSFER STUDENT please chance me!

Hey I am currently a freshman at University of Pittsburgh (main campus)

My high school stats kind of sucked because I didn't apply myself
gpa 3.5
SAT CR 620 M 590 W 640

I got a 3.25 first semester of college (I am considering it an adjustment period)

Microeconomics A-
Psychology B+
Calc B (4 credits)
Astron B

but once I decided I want to try to transfer I began working very persistently and think I have a very good shot at getting a 4.0 this semester

Stats A (4 credits)
Honors Macroeconomics A
Philosophy and Science A
Sociology A
Seminar in Comp. A

I am not in any clubs now, but am joining both Finance club and Investment Banking Club (no career interest, just general interest) next year 1st semester.

I want to try to transfer for the spring semester because I heard it was easier and I will "hopefully" have a 3.67 combined gpa with 30 credits when I apply. Writing is my forte and I plan to use the summer to create a great essay.

Do you think I have any shot at all of getting into uMich? I am also out-of-state :/

Not a great shot. Three things:

spring transfer isn’t easier

your 3.67 is still only hypothetical, so it’s hard to say until you actually have a GPA

since your hs stats are below average for umich, you’ll probably need about a 3.7+ after 60 credit hours

So if you keep up the strong work, you’ll have a good shot for junior transfer, but next spring will be pretty unlikely.

Thanks for the advice. I actually meant winter semester. My friend called their admissions and was informed that applying for the winter is a little easier. And yeah I know the gpa is hypothetical but that is where my grades stand with only 3 weeks of school left so I wanted to know my chances for incentive to maintain my grades but thanks again for the advice.
