I am a rising sophomore at the University of Georgia and was wondering how difficult it would be to transfer into Vanderbilt after my sophomore year. I currently have a 3.9 college GPA and plan to keep it around that area and have a 29 ACT score. I was ranked 13th out of 250 in my high school class with a 3.9ish GPA there as well. Do I need to do anything in particular to improve my chances? And do I have a shot?

I'd say you have a shot. Make sure this year you take the most "transferrable" classes at UGA -- i.e. classes that will cover liberal ed cores or if your major is at vanderbilt, check out the prereqs of the major at vandy and make sure you have those covered. Obviously, continue to do well in your courses, and I'd say keeping an ongoing conversation with your admissions counselor would be really helpful too. vandy's admissions really wants to know that you want to go to vanderbilt, not just that you want to transfer from uga. good luck!
