Transfer Clarifications

I just want to say that, after reading posts on this forum for the past
few hours, I have gotten more information and questions asked here then all the visits I've made to my counselor's office at my CC. This place is great.

I'm want to apply to UCSB for the Fall 2006 semester in the Film Studies major, I am going iton my 2nd year at my CC. After the end of this current fall semester, I will have between a 3.42 and 3.66 GPA of my UC-transferrable courses. My top priority in my ECs is that I'm in the military (Marine Corps Reserves). Only real thing I'm worried about are two non-transferrable grades that don't effect my UC GPA, but they're still visible on my transcripts. I got a D and an F in two math classes - I'm HORRIBLE at math. But I retook a placement test and got into PreCal and passed that with an A, have now accelerated into Calculus I and am now doing great in this class. The F was a trigonometry class (should of discovered ratemyprofessor.com a little sooner, but not transferrable) and the D was an algebra class (not transferrable) in my first semester. Should I even bother retaking trigonometry and getting it expunged from my overall course GPA? I'm going to have 60 transferrable units completed by spring. Since UCSB Film Studies doesn't have required courses to take, they listed 4 prepartion courses (has no effect on admission) and I have taken 2 of them. For my GE, I'm doing the 7-course GE and have gone beyond the requirements. My CC has only a "Transfer Admission Agreement" too. With regard to those two grades, my transcripts consist of A's and B's (mostly A's). So, should I be worried? Recommended back-up schools?

Sorry for the very detailed description, just wanted to give as much detail as I can. If I asked a repeated question, I'm sorry, I've been searching for everything I can.

Thanks to anyone who helps, I really, really appreciate all of it.

I'm going to UCSB in Fall 05, so I recently went through the transfer process.

Film Studies is included in the Transfer Admission Agreement program with all community colleges. That means if you meet the minimum requirements, and have a 2.8 GPA, you should be guaranteed admission at UCSB. So if your GPA is above that, I don't think you should be worried about UCSB. When I applied, I made sure all of my requirements were in check, so I didn't bother to pick any safeties.

For more on the agreement, you can read this:

(It says City College of SF, since I chose the options, but it should be the same for all colleges)

I concur with what rc251 says. And by the way, NON-transferable courses mean NOTHING. They are not really considered.
