Hello, would it be reasonable and the best decision to go to community college for one year and transfer to another college out of state?
Nope.
OOS colleges all have different requirements.
You wouldn’t be able to do this for most schools in California given that you would need 60 units to transfer, except, of course, transferring to another community college.
Oh and your OOS fees would be VERY expensive including the CC’s.
Financial aid would be off the table for most of these schools.
To add onto @“aunt bea” 's advice, even if it was prudent (because it is possible to transfer from CC OOS after a year, it’s just more complicated), your admissions chances most likely won’t change if your HS stats are not up to par with some OOS schools you may be thinking about.
Unless you are able to drastically change your study habits and show exceptional academic growth in a mere year of college, then schools will need to see much more post-secondary work to consider you.
But of course, this is assuming you do end up applying. As @“aunt bea” mentioned, the exorbitant OOS fees, coupled with CC charging for sending transcripts etc., it’s simply not a good idea to transfer out of CC early.
Stay for the two full years, kick butt in your classes, and then apply. Taking the traditional CC path is much less painful and more convenient than scrambling to get your reqs.
Reasonable and best way to achieve what goal?
Some states are easier to transfer between than others - it’s somewhat common between neighboring states or within a tuition compact like WUE.
Thank you all for the advice. I ended up moving to Delaware due to my dad changing jobs and attending a community college there, I am hoping to to say here for two years and transfer to DSU or UOD.
That’s great, kick butt in CC!
