I am currently a sophomore transfer student at University of Wisconsin Madison, I transferred here from another smaller UW school. I decide to transfer one month into my freshman year after I couldn’t make any friends and had some bad experiences, but after everything was decided and put into place I started to like my first school. Now at Madison my grades are really suffering because of the class sizes, along with my mental health and social life, and I’m seriously considering transferring back to my smaller UW school. The hardest part would be finding someone to take over the lease to my apartment and bringing this up to my parents, whom I begged to let me transfer. Can anyone provide some advice or guidance? I don’t know if I’m overreacting to the move or if this is a plausible plan.
Yes you can transfer back. Yes, you can tell your parents that you realize that you prefer the other place.
The lease is tricky. You are correct that you probably need to deal with that first.
You also have the option of committing to finishing out the academic year where you are. Last year it took you a long time to get comfortable. Your issues right now could be just more of that same thing. If you plan to stay through the next semester, you can complete the transfer application anyway, but won’t need to decide for sure until later in the year.
