I am Cal Poly, Pomona student. This is my second year. But, we found that my mom has heart valve damage . I have a autistic brother too. My mom can not handle her health and the house, my brother. So, I am planning to apply transfer for fall 2013. I am thinking of 2 options.

Applying leave of absence at Cal poly, Pomona and apply transfer for fall 2013.

take classes at local community college for this year and apply transfer to San Jose State University for fall 2013.

Which is the best option to get into San Jose State University?

Do I have to drop Cal Poly, Pomona in order to take classes at local community college?

Thank you

I’m sorry to hear about your mom’s health problems, it’s great that you’re going home to help out.

I don’t know much about the CA system, so I can’t answer your first question. For your second, I would call Cal Poly, explain your situation and ask if you can take a leave of absence and take CC classes during that time.

I’m literally in the same situation plus I hated my school (I can’t change my name…lol). But for UCSC, I had to withdraw, I’m going to a community college and then transferring for spring hopefully somewhere.

I know that for MOST UC/CSU’s you have to have ATLEAST 60 semester credits to transfer…so if you do decide to drop/withdraw from Pomona, MAKE SURE YOU count your credits and see what will transfer over to SJSU!!! That’s my biggest problem with trying to transfer to Chico…also check out SJSU’s transfer policies and make sure you wont waste extra time and money!
