Transfer essay topic- too risky?

I am a current freshman trying to transfer from A&M to UT Austin’s Biology program. I actually got accepted into UT out of highschool but chose A&M for some reason instead. However, once I started at A&M I realized I made a huge mistake. I got extremely depressed there and developed an eating disorder. This caused for a dip in my grades. One of the essay topics is asking for any circumstances that could explain academic performance. Would it be too risky to talk about my eating disorder and how it affected me? I have gotten help and now have a different outlook, but I think that it would be an important thing for UT to know.

Absolutely not–its just too personal. I would tweak it and make it about doubting yourself for making the wrong decision.

You don’t know what kind of jerk will be reading your essay. Don’t write about depression.

I don’5 know how ignorant or simplu thick one has to be to think mood doesn’t affect performance, besides.
