transfer fall 2007 chances

so since the deadline just closed, i was wondering what my chances really are:

about 3.8 college GPA (right now)
4.43 weighted HS GPA
will have completed 34 credits at the end of spring
lots of high school activites
few but very involved college activities (college magazine, sorority, redcross)
1250/1600 SATI
1850/2400 new SAT
fine arts applicant (thought my personal statement and portfolio was really good)
have shown an extreme amount of interest
applied last year and was rejected

The SAT's will hurt you a bit, but everything else looks solid. My understanding is that they will disregard the SAT's if you apply as a junior transfer.

if you've taken freshman writing and other GE courses that transfer into USC, that increases your chances a lot. plus, are you transferring from a 4-year college or a community college?

I'm applying to USC as a transfer as well, 62 semester hours completed. Does it matter if you're transferring from a 4yr as opposed to a ccc? I know for UC it does but what's the deal w/ usc?

A four year is regarded as more rigorous than a CCC, so they take that into account when evaluating grades.

I'm coming from a 4 year university (Penn State- upark). I'm applying to enter as a sophomore (class of 2010).

I have completed a freshman writing class, as well as the foreign language requirement and many other gen eds.

also, I was told by admissions that they will disregard SATs and a lot of the HS grades if 30 credits have been completed.

true, it's a sort of progressive thing...the more college units you have, the less your high school GPA and SAT matter. Especially if you have 30 units + freshman writing.

After all, HS GPA and SAT are supposed to be "predictors" of college performance...you don't really need to "predict" college performance if you've already have good college performance.
