I applied for transfer in mid January. I know they said we would hear by 3/15 but i am wondering if anyone has heard yet? Last year according to CC there were people who received acceptances in last Fenruary. Just nervous i guess.
I found out today, and I applied February 9th. I was accepted.
My college GPA was 3.91, I had a 29 ACT, and applied for the Public Health major
Good for you. I just checked and got accepted as well. Did you get any scholarship money? Are you going to the open house next week? Are you likely to attend, or are you waiting to hear from other schools? I am way excited!
I got accepted too to Biology and Philosophy! I have 16k in scholarship and applying for FA (really really need more… 70k for Tulane is very expensive!). Still waiting on other decisions, but very happy to have been accepted!
Is anyone going to check out the school? ? I dont know whether to go March 9th(I was scheduled) or wait for a for an accepted students day. Any info you have would be appreciated.
Also what stats got you that scholarship if you dont mind me asking? Where else are you waiting to hear from?
@bklyngal 3.91 GPA first semester of college, 34 on this february ACT (had a 33 composite before). I am taking 20 credits and auditing 7 this semester (I think this influenced a lot my application), am an active participant in Student Government, I am doing a bible study even though I’m atheist and am in 5 clubs (active participant in all. Very diversified and have nothing to do with my major. I’m a biology and philosophy major and clubs I’m part of are like investment fund and MUN). I think my common app essay was good, my activity essay was good, my 800 why tulane wasn’t the best (did it 3 hours before deadline lol). I have a terrible HS GPA (I’m from Italy, very different system, and had family problems explained in my app that influenced my school performance a lot). I think I painted a picture of a very determined applicant in love with knowledge, discussion, ideas, confrontation. My biggest drawback was my HS GPA, and by reading posts on this forum I didn’t expect to get accepted tbh (I read the HS GPA for a freshman is heavily weighted). I applied to USC, Pomona, UNC, UVA, Johns Hopkins, Columbia, Boston University. I know most of them are reaches, but I always shoot for the stars lol (I got rejected twice to all the school I applied during my HS years(long story) and applied to a school only after receiving decisions the 1st of April). I guess this is all that might have had influenced my application… I’m also in the Honors College in my school
What about you? Where are you applying from? Where did you apply to?
I have a 3.9, and had a 33 ACT in high school. Tulane is one of my top choices. I plan on visiting in the next few weeks. I have a few schools I am waiting to hear from( 2 are on your list). I am concerned about housing for transfers and assimilating into the campus as a transfer. Hopefully my visit will allay these fears.
@bklyngal isn’t housing guaranteed? For the assimilation process you shouldn’t worry, I have a current freshman friend at tulane and she said she knows many transfer students and that there aren’t any kind of problems in the assimilation! I would still be interested in hearing your perspective after visiting
I don’t think housing is guaranteed. Maybe I am wrong…
Housing is not guaranteed for transfers because it is based on availability. You can submit your $250 housing deposit with your $500 enrollment deposit so that you can apply for campus housing and if you don’t get it then you will receive your housing deposit back. You can also look for off campus roommates through the Transfer Facebook Group or in Tulane Classifieds!
Does it say if you got accepted on the greenwave portal? One of my transcripts still says it’s awaitng but I emailed them and they said they have it but they still haven’t marked it as received therefore my application still looks incomplete
