Currently I'm a freshman at Michigan State University and carry a 3.78 GPA. I had a 3.33 in high school (where I took 7 AP classes and 2 IB classes, along with 5 honors) and a 27 ACT, and have 14 credits (with 16 more pending) to transfer. Also I took part in medical lab research at Field Neurosciences Institute at St. Mary's and also other miscellaneous lab work/research in the chemistry lab here at MSU. I'm a pre-medical student and plan to major in biology, so I'll be applying to college of LSA. I'm also a resident of Michigan.

If anyone could let me know what my chances might be for transferring to University of Michigan for sophomore status next year I would definitely appreciate it. Thanks.

It’s unlikely for Fall 2012. Generally sophomore transfers would have gotten in as freshmen or were close. Based on your stats, you would not have come close to getting in. However, you are on the right track. Keep up that GPA and keep doing what your doing and you will have a very good chance at the Winter term. It’s just one more semester so it’s not that bad. Good luck!

Just looking out for your best interest, do not apply as a sophomore. UMich is not shy about letting applicants know they RARELY accept sophomore transfers. I’m pretty positive they only accept those who are qualified and applying to the School of Nursing. I applied as a sophomore last year from CMU with a 4.0 cumulative GPA overall and was still denied. Wait until you are applying as a junior and your chances will rise immensely.
