which unis have transfer offer openings for spring?
i know cornell and NYU does
any other schools?

Almost every college/university that accepts transfers will accept them for any term on that college/university’s calendar. Work out a list of places that seem to be reasonable matches for you, and then check with each of them to find out the application dates for the different terms. For many public universities, admission is somewhat easier for summer or winter/spring terms than it is for the fall term.

Good luck!

i dont think most do. i know columbia, berkeley, MIT (for international students), stanford, doesnt.

Actually, in my observation, most do. However, you seem to be focusing on a very particular category of institutions, and within that set, it is quite possible that very few do accept second semester transfer students. Since you seem to have a clear idea of where you’d like to study, you should just go ahead and check each of their websites. I don’t think there is some special master list of winter/spring transfer admissions out there waiting to be found.

If you’re looking at the highly selective schools, then a large portion of them do not offer Spring matriculation. It’s hard to give an exact measure here; it seems almost that half do and half don’t, but that’s very rough. A few do offer Spring matriculation for some colleges but not all. For example, Cornell College of Engineering does not accept Spring transfers, but as far as I know the other colleges (like Arts and Science) do.

I second happymomof1’s advice. Your best bet is to simply write down a list of several schools you’d like to go to and then check each individually to see if they offer Spring transfer.
