Transfer from CAS to Stern

I want to transfer from CAS to stern because i think my interests align more closely with business now than i originally had thought. I would probably want to major in either finance or accounting.

I expect my gpa at the end of two semesters to be ~3.8.
My high school stats were:
91 avg
Rank 20/490.
1310/1950 sats.

If i transfer at the end of my sophomore year, what are my chances?

As long as you took Micro, calculus, some MAP courses, Macro, a year of writing, you're on the right track. Write good essays and its hard to tell if you'll get in or not b/c admit rate is volatile for stern xfers. Note that finance is like THE most popular major at stern. Also try to get into the PFA (princ. of fin. accounting) non-stern section to really show the admin committee that you're serious. And why did you wait so late to xfer? you could have yearly this semester (like me)?

hmm i want to possibly xfer to stern but im entering GSP

1330 sat 1990 overall
top 3%/450 rank
9X average

this will not be easy.. i originally applied to cas

l2ab, what were your stats for your transfer?

Last2ACntsBanned,

I had to wait till sophomore year to transfer because for one, i don't think my stats were strong enough after just one semester to get admitted and secondly, i hadn't decided for sure if i wanted to pursue business. Even now, I'm not entirely certain i wish to pursue business. But even if i don't make it in as a transfer to stern, i can always continue doing the econ major in cas.

But i do have a few questions. I've already completed world cultures and conwest, finished my writing courses, and took calculus. For this upcoming fall semester, I will be taking econ principles 1 and presumably, principles 2 in the spring along with probably either statistics or principles of fin. acct.

When you say take macro and micro, are you referring to these two econ principle courses?

Bump ^^^. Can someone respond to my question about the macro and micro classes?

psprulez: I think he's speaking of Intermediate Microeconomics (v31.0012) and Macroeconomics (v31.0012). From my understanding, they are equivalent to that of the Micro/Macro Stern offers. Dont' quote me on this, but I don't think Stern students take Economic Principles.

You shouldn't have a problem getting in if you maintain that 3.8. In my opinion, you got all the hard courses out of the way: Advanced/WTE and Con West.

I am a senior in highshool and have recieved admission into CAS. After my first semester (or second semester) in CAS- I hope to transfer into Stern. Do you know for internal transfers, if the department looks at my higschool senior year second semester grades?
