Got rejected from RBS NB a couple months ago with a 3.76 weighted GPA and a 2010 SAT. Got accepted to a bunch of other out of state schools but don’t really have to money to attend them. I’m most likely going to go to CC next year and I’m wondering if it is possible to transfer to Rutgers NB in 1 year or maybe even after a semester.
I just learned I cant transfer to RBS NB after one semester. Has anyone here had experience transferring from CC to another school at New Brunswick after a semester? Is it worth it for me to transfer to Rutgers after a semester or should I just spend the year at CC and apply for the fall semester at the business school the next year?
Yes, you can transfer after one semester as long as you have completed 12 credits. There is no rule in regards to the time spent on the college but the amount of credits you you have taken (http://admissions.rutgers.edu/Transfers/TransfersMain.aspx). However, to be accepted to RBS-NB as a transfer, you must complete some of the pre-business courses at your CC (http://www.business.rutgers.edu/undergrad-new-brunswick/admissions/transfer-requirements). That may be one of the reasons you weren’t accepted. I’m transferring from MCC with a GPA of 3.76 and they had accepted all my 60 credits. I’ve also completed all the pre-business courses so they told me that I was going to enter as a junior and I could immediately start taking business courses. Since I pay the tuition out of my pocket, I was very happy they’ve accepted 60 credits. I probably saved two years of tuition. Just keep in mind that by the NJ transfer agreement, Rutgers will only consider the 60 credits as half of the four years degree if you graduate from your CC with an A.S or A.A degree. If you do not graduate from your CC and transfer in the middle of it, Rutgers has the right to reject your credits and have you take everything again. Applied Science majors also are not accepted. http://www.njccc.org/college2college/degreetransfer.html
I really recommend you to finish the CC and then transfer but be careful with the classes you take, many of them are not transferable.
