I just recently finished my transfer degree from a Washington state community college and I have been accepted into UWB for the fall quarter. I missed my chance to apply to UWS for the fall but I plan on applying for the winter as soon as the applications open up in august. From what I have read so far it seems like I will have a better chance at getting into UWS if I transfer directly from CC but I am having problems with the idea of taking fall quarter off from school when I don't even know if I will get into UWS. If I am registered at UWB but I don't have any credits to send to UWS will I be considered a CC transfer or a university transfer?
BTW I actually prefer the small school for working adults atmosphere of UWB but they don't have my major.
Thanks

If you want to go to school at UWSeattle, do NOT matriculate at UWB. If you are attending UWB when you apply, you will be requesting a transfer from UWB and not a CC. Taking a quarter off is not a big deal. Use the time to work and save some money and polish your UWSeattle application.

Thanks for the reply. Working and saving money is what I am actually doing right now, but my education is funded through VA benefits that I can only use until I turn 26. I am 24 now so taking a quarter off really is a big deal because I am literally running out of time. I hesitate to waste another quarter trying to get into a school that is a “reach” for me, however I do have a chance on getting in even if it is small and it is the school I would prefer. Quite the conundrum. :/

Unless you have what the admissions officers consider a compelling reason for needing to transfer, you will not be able to transfer from UWB to the Seattle campus. So, you need to decide if you’d rather attend the UW Bothell and finish by the time you are 26, or attend UW Seattle and pay for an extra quarter out of your own pocket (after your VA benefits run out).

Good Luck!

The decision is entirely up to you, but like it was said don’t attend UWB if you want to transfer to UWS later. You will reduce your chances of getting into UWS.
Also, if you take a summer quarter you might be able to graduate by the time you are 26.

I had a friend who graduated from CC and then went to UW- Bothell hoping to then transfer to UW - Seattle.

He applied 4 times and never got into UW - Seattle
He had a good GPA

If you are dead set on getting into UW-Seattle do not go to UW-Bothell hoping to transfer.

I should also add: my friend even had a compelling reason, what he wanted to major in was not offered at uw-bothell.
