I will be attending NYU Liberal Studies Program this fall as a freshman. I was wondering if it's possible for me to transfer into Stern at the end of my sophomore year from LSP to Stern. I know I'll be able to attend CAS at the end of my sophomore year, but I really wanted to know if Stern was also an option.
Also, if a transfer to Stern is possible, would I be able to graduate in 4 years majoring in international business?

It’s definitely possible. At least it was for this year. I met 1 person who transferred from LSP by applying for internal transfer in his freshman year. So i suggest you apply for transfer in the spring of your first year at uni. I am not familiar with the process of LSP going into Stern, i just know it’s possible. International business is a co-concentration, i believe you can only do intl business if you have another primary concentration (e.g finance, accounting, actuarial science).

I’m going to be honest with you and say that your chances of transferring into Stern are not good. I think I read somewhere that there were 3-5 successful internal transfers into Stern; out of an undergraduate population of 5000 that’s pretty terrible. Also, I will say that there is a certain bias against LSP students; the general perception is that they are less qualified than the other students - I will not speak to the legitimacy of such a belief, but it is there.

As strange as it seems, if you really wanted to go to Stern, you would have a better shot at getting in by attending an entirely different university and transferring as opposed to going for an internal transfer. While I personally do not know a single Stern student who has matriculated from a different NYU college, I know several students who have transferred from other Universities (some less prestigious than NYU).

^ See these are the types of people you should avoid. Read my post http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/new-york-university/1323947-truth-about-internal-transfer-stern-cas.html

You need to hear from people who actually have transferred internally.

IB is indeed a co-major only - but it only requires 2 major-specific classes (excluding core) IIRC.

@castostern …cas to stern is much easier than lsp to stern though

@castostern I don’t think students are able to internal transfer to Stern after the first year. The university clarifies that students in LSP core program should complete the two years. I think you are talking about GLSP.
