Hello everyone !

I am wondering how hard it is for me to transfer to other colleges with my credentials:

Current University: University of Albany
GPA: 3.88/4.0 but hopefully 3.94 by the end of this semester
SAT: 1350/1600, 1950/2400 (not sure if SAT score counts if i'm planning to apply my sophomore year 2nd semester)
HS GPA: 3.25 around it was pretty bad but from a reputable high school
Not sure if it matters but i'm two honors societies at albany
and a community service organization

My major is pertaining to business

I know these may be reach schools i'm just curious if there is a shot at them

NYU stern
UPenn Wharton
Notre Dame Mendoza
Cornell
Emory
Babson
Binghamton

Also another concern is if it is worth staying at Albany with hopefully a consistently high GPA rather than possibly transferring to a higher rank university with my GPA going down.

please help thanks

I think you have a good chance for Babson, Binghamton, and Emory. I think its a good shot as well for Cornell and Notre Dame. But it’s really gonna be hard for Stern and Wharton especially because of your low SAT scores and also cuz its super competitive to transfer into those business schools. I’ve been to SUNY Albany, and I really thought it didn’t have a good academic environment. So I really hope you get into one of those schools cuz I’m sure you deserve a better place to pursue your study in business! :)

ah thanks you think I’ll have a chance at Cornell? I’m not sure if I should just slug it out in albany since i’m majoring in accountant then try to apply to a better grad school after 4 years for mba and remain a “bigger fish” in a smaller pond rather than a “smaller fish” in a bigger pond?

I heard Cornell has a pretty big acceptance rate for transfers (around 25%??), and I think they accept a lot of SUNY students cuz theyre in NY.

well, I would say its all about prestige for undergrad. And also another important thing about undergrad u shud consider is the environment that your studying in. So think about whether u want to stay in Albany for the next couple years or go somewhere else where there are more and better opportunities for you. And looking at your GPA, I think you would do well in other schools as well and maintain yourself as a “bigger fish”.

ahh thats what I was thinking i’m just worried if I stayed at Albany a fraction of the tuition of a university like Cornell I won’t get into a good graduate school. Do you think the undergraduate school plays a big factor in the acceptance of grad school?

advice anyone thankss

Notre Dame does not accept transfers into their Mendoza school of business.

“Due to enrollment limitations, Notre Dame does not accept transfer applications for the Mendoza College of Business. We do not anticipate a change to this policy in the foreseeable future. If your goal is an undergraduate degree in business, you should not apply to Notre Dame.”

Hello, I am currently a Suny Albany student that is also contemplating transferring out. I have oddly similar stats to yours, and I majoring in business as well as computer science. my stats are 3.75 GPA, 33 act, 1940 SAT, 3.6 hs GPA. Did you end up transferring out of Suny Albany or staying?
