I am currently going in to my sophomore year at the UofA and I am hoping to transfer to either UCSB, UCSC, Cal Poly Slo, or another highly ranked uc or csu after this year. I have found that the uofa is not for me and I am going to do my best to transfer. I was wondering if anyone knew if there are the same requirements to transfer as if I were to transfer for a community college? I have a 3.1 GPA and I have 3 A’s, 5 B’s, and 2 C’s and I have completed all 32 of my attempted credits. If I were to keep going at the same pace what are the chances of my being able to transfer to a UC or CSU by my junior year? If anyone could please help!! Thanks!
I would take a look at the TAG requirements for each UC to see what classes are needed for transfer and the required GPA. Although you cannot do TAG from UofA, this will give some guidelines of what is needed to transfer into these schools. Just based on your posted GPA, UCSB and SLO are probably somewhat of a Reach. You have a good shot at UCSC. You also have to remember, priority for transfers will be given to California CCC applicants first, UC to UC and CSU to UC tranfers, then OOS.
Here is a link for the TAG requirements for the campuses that participate. You also need to check which of your classes will transfer to a UC/CSU. If all classes transfer then great, but if not, you will still need to meet the 60 unit threshold by Spring to transfer.

ok thanks so much!
Hello. I’m in the same boat. I’m wanting to leave U of A and transfer to a cal state or UC. I plan to take courses at a California community college for Spring semester. Would I be able to do TAG from the community college that I enroll in for the spring semester and also include the courses I took at U of A.
@tatluv You need 30 semester/45 quarter units taken at a CA CCC prior to applying with TAG plus have another 30 units of UC transferable units for U of A. I would try to meet with UC admissions to see if they could evaluate your U of A transcript to give you an idea if you have enough UC transferable credit.
From what I know it is much easier to transfer into UCs from a comm college than from another 4-year university, including am out-of-state public or a good private. The transfer system is set up first and foremost for cc students. I don’t know about Cal states, but I think for UCs you are better off getting some of the credits at a cc and trying to transfer from there.
