Hey everybody, I had a question about lower division transfer from UC to UC. How hard it to transfer from UCSC to UCI after the frsit year at UCSC. community college is not an option, because on med school application it will look much better that went to only UC's. Besides that how hard is it to tranfer from UCSC to UCI, and what steps do i need to take. Help will be greatly appreciated.

complete 90 units your first year at UCSC and major preperation courses for UCI.

is that possible even. I thought you dont ahve to complete 90 units, can't you just do what you would do a regular year, and make sure those classes will go to UCI, and start as a Sophmore at UCI?

UC's only accept transfers that are in junior standing (90 units) so it is possible if you have some AP credit and/or willing to work pretty hard in a year.

People tell me its suicide and that you will probaly screw over your GPA. Its a lot a lot harder than it sounds to do 90 units.

Thats the only way to do it if you want to transfer to a UC, so if you don't want to sacrifice your gpa, you'll probably have to transfer after two years

why do you want to transfer after one year?

and i don't know if you're correct about med schools looking down on a persons app because they attended CC, but hopefully someone else could chime in..(i don't plan on going to med school).

mylifeisover, i don't think that's true. my friend transferred from uc davis to ucsc as a sophomore. i think she said that irvine and santa cruz are the only ones that take sophomore transfers, though. maybe ucsb also, i don't remember.

While your friend might have been able to transfer to ucsc as a sophomore, i'm willing to bet those were isolated events. I am looking straight at the eligibility reqs which say that transfers need 60 semester or 90 quarter units completed to transfer.

Maybe the OP has some unusual circumstance, i don't know, i guess if you really wanted to find out call UCI admissions.
